One of the most common uses for which MoistScan® online moisture analyser is purchased is to reduce problems associated with the conveyance and processing of bulk materials. Typically problems arise when water is added to materials, particularly materials that are high in fine particles. Minerals that have significant clay content are cases in point. Here particles tend to agglomerate with the addition of water resulting and become sticky. This causes problems particularly at transfer points and in chutes and hoppers where hold up or clog ups occur. By better monitoring and controlling the addition of water non-productive equipment down-time can be reduced substantially.
